Cocktails

September 08, 2008

There is an ever changing cocktail board in the bar, but we claim to be able to make up everyone's very own creation if required.

Where do cocktails come from? Nobody knows exactly although many stories have been created over time as their origins. Did they originate from Mexico from the name of King Axoloti VII's bautiful daughter, Xoc-ti, who was renowned for serving her own tantalizing concoctions to her father's guests? Or was it from Elizabethan pirates who sailed round the Caribbean stirring their devilishly spicy drinks with the slender root of a plant called cola de gallo (cock's tail)? Antoher theory is that the name derived from the drinks alcoholic potency which was strong enough to "cock the tail" (or "knock the socks off") of an unwary patron. Or did the name just plain and simply come from a mixed drink from France called coquetel? Where ever they originated, their find was to be an inspiring one that would spice up the taste of drinks forever!
